Frequently asked questions

Can't find your answer here? Our AI assistant on the contact page replies in seconds, 24 / 7.

Getting started

How quickly can we start?
Most facilities are live within 24 hours. You create an account, add one or more residents with their phone numbers and preferred call times, and Care-Call.AI places its first call on the next scheduled slot. A white-glove setup is included with every pilot at no extra cost.
Is there a free trial?
Yes. Your first 30 days are free for up to 10 residents. There is no credit card required for the pilot, and you can walk away at any point without being charged. See the pilot request form.
Do we need any special hardware?
No. Care-Call.AI uses your residents' existing landlines or mobile phones. On the staff side any modern browser (Chrome, Safari, Edge, Firefox) works — no apps to install, no PBX changes.
What languages do you support?
English is the primary language of the US service. Our voice engine also supports Japanese on request, and Spanish is on the roadmap. If you need a different language, send us a message via the contact form on our website.

Pricing and billing

How much does it cost?
Plans are per-resident per-month: Essential $25 (3 calls/week), Standard $35 (daily), Premium $45 (daily, 10-minute calls, trend reports). Volume discounts kick in automatically at 10, 30 and 50 residents. Full details on the home page.
Can I change plans later?
Yes, any admin can upgrade or downgrade plans at any time from the Billing page of the dashboard. The change takes effect at the start of the next billing cycle; nothing is prorated mid-cycle.
How do you bill? Do I need a PO or contract?
We bill monthly in advance via Stripe in US Dollars. Individual facilities can pay by card; multi-site customers can request NET-30 invoicing and a master services agreement via the contact form on our website (choose the Partnership category).
What if a resident moves out mid-month?
You can pause or deactivate a resident from their profile page. Billing reflects the number of active residents at the start of the next cycle, so there's no penalty for small changes, and no partial refunds for mid-cycle removals.

Calls & AI

What does an AI call sound like?
Warm, natural and conversational — not a robocall. The AI introduces itself by name, asks how the resident is doing, chats about sleep, meals, mood and any concerns, then wraps up in 3–10 minutes depending on the plan. You can listen to sample calls during the pilot onboarding.
What happens if a resident doesn't answer?
We retry up to twice at 15-minute intervals, then mark the call as "No answer" and post an alert to the dashboard so staff can follow up in person.
Does the AI ever claim to be a real person?
No. Every call opens with a disclosure that it is an automated AI companion from the facility. In two-party consent states, that disclosure is also recorded as part of the audit trail.
What if a resident says something urgent?
If the AI detects keywords or sentiment suggesting an emergency, it immediately flags a priority alert on the dashboard and sends an email and SMS to the staff on-call. Care-Call.AI is not an emergency service — residents in crisis should still call 911.

Privacy, HIPAA & compliance

Are you HIPAA compliant?
Yes. NIUSIA CO.,LTD. operates as a HIPAA Business Associate and will sign a mutual BAA before ingesting any PHI. See our HIPAA Notice for the full details.
Do you train AI models on resident data?
No. Transcripts and summaries are sent to OpenAI and Anthropic under zero-retention contractual terms. They are not retained by the model providers and are never used to train public foundation models.
What about two-party consent states?
In states that require two-party consent (California, Florida, Illinois, Maryland, Massachusetts, Montana, New Hampshire, Pennsylvania, Washington) we play a recorded disclosure at the start of every call and log consent in the audit trail.
Who can see the call transcripts?
Only users you explicitly invite: facility administrators, staff members, and (optionally) family members via read-only share links. Every view is recorded in an immutable audit log retained for 6 years.

International availability

Which countries is Care-Call.AI available in?
We're currently available in the United States, Canada, New Zealand, Ireland, and Singapore. The United Kingdom and Australia are coming soon. We're expanding rapidly — contact us if you'd like service in another country.
Does Care-Call.AI make international calls?
No. Care-Call.AI is not an international calling service. We assign a local phone number in your country and all calls are domestic. Your residents see a familiar, trusted local caller ID — not a foreign number.
What happens if my country isn't supported yet?
You can join our waitlist and we'll notify you when we launch in your country. We prioritize countries with the most demand. Visit the trial page or contact us to sign up.
Will my residents see a strange international number on their caller ID?
No. We provision a local phone number specific to your country. For example, a New Zealand facility gets a +64 number. Residents see a familiar local caller ID, which increases answer rates and builds trust.
I'm in the UK or Australia. Can I sign up now?
Yes! Set up your facility and register residents now. We'll activate calls automatically as soon as our local phone number is ready. You'll be among our first users in your country.

Reliability & support

What's your uptime?
We target 99.5% monthly uptime for both the web dashboard and voice engine, with automated failover and a live health check at /api/health. Detailed terms are in section 8 of the Terms of Service.
How do I get support?
The AI assistant on this site answers most questions instantly. For anything it can't handle, use the contact form on our website and we'll escalate to the NIUSIA team. Enterprise customers also get a named customer-success manager.
Where is Care-Call.AI based?
Care-Call.AI is a product of NIUSIA CO.,LTD., a Japanese AI technology company headquartered in Tokyo. The US service is hosted in New Jersey on Vultr.
